On Monday, we had to go into the clinic for the final ultrasound to make sure that that second fetus either matured or is being absorbed by my body. Just before the appointment, the Intended Parents let me know they wanted to Face Time into the appointment. So once we got the technical glitches figured out, we called them so they could be part of the ultrasound as well.
The moment they saw the heartbeat was pure joy, there were tears, shaking and excitement. They asked lots of questions and were so thrilled to see their baby for the first time. We also confirmed that the second fetus did not mature into a baby and my body would soon absorb it. After the appointment, Sara reached out about how amazing it was to see the baby, I think this is really starting to settle in for her that there really is a baby. Later that week, she told her family members and on Wednesday a HUGE flower arrangement showed up from her dad and step mom. I was blown away by the generosity of this family, and couldn’t believe they would send me a gift like that. Since this has been such a gift to me, I sometimes forget about the gift I am giving to them.
Thursday was Thanksgiving and my sister-in-law had us over for the intimate dinner with 34 other family members…yikes we are a large family! Dinner was delicious, pies were never ending and the family ended the night with some Karaoke. All in all a wonderful week, and now a few more days off before I head back to work to a crazy few days of client presentations and projects.
