two more weeks and counting

Maternity leave is flying by, I have no idea why it is going so quickly, but I wish it would slow down.  I made a list of things I wanted to accomplish over my leave and honestly, I have checked off 2 things.  Sara reminded me about the list recently to see how it was going, and I felt like such a slug for not having finished anything on it.  Of course it is made of things like organize this, and organize that and deep clean this.  But I am not going to worry myself about it much, I have my whole life ahead of me, and winter is coming (do you watch Game of Thrones?) so I can always do those things during a crazy snowstorm.

Post 5 weeksI am pleased with the progress I am making, and my stomach is getting closer and closer to looking like I am not 12 weeks pregnant.  I have even lost 2 more pounds so I am now at 26/40 pounds – only 14 to go!!!  Over the last week, my main event was figuring out a weaning plan and in my last post I mentioned a mix of cutting back time and extending out pumping sessions.  So far it is working and although I have the occasional sore chest, I am noticing that my supply is starting to drop considerably.  Before I was weaning, I was pumping 18-24 ounces a day, now I am lucky if I have 12 ounces.  I am now only pumping for 10 minutes, down from 20 and every 4 hours instead of 3 hours.  I have also dropped a pumping session.   I will just continue to cut back every three days and  by the time I head back to work, I should be nearly done with pumping all together. I have also started to exercise again.  I can’t believe how out of shape I am, but I have been taking hour long brisk walks with my friend Joy each morning and 3 days a week I am doing strength training routines from an app I downloaded called Sworkit.  This is the coolest app, I highly recommend that you all download it.  You can pick the time you want to exercise (5-60 min) and the type of routine, like strength, cardio, yoga or stretching.  It walks you through a series of exercises that really get your heart rate up and you feel the sore muscles the next day.  I am anxious to get back to my 6 am classes, but I am going to wait a few more weeks and build up some strength.

What I am really looking forward to is the big wedding this weekend.  Billy’s sister Susan is marrying Robert and I couldn’t be more excited for the two of them.  Susan has waited a long time to find the right man, and Robert is absolutely perfect for her, along with his 4 beautiful kids.  We have lots of family time planned Friday – Saturday and I can’t wait to meet his extended family and friends who are coming into town.  I hope to have a few pictures next week to share from the wedding, I just have to remember to pull out my phone and use the camera, I am not good at capturing moments.

Little Jackson is doing really well and LOVES to eat, especially when Sara and Derek are just about to sit down to a meal.  He is enjoying his black and white books and will get his nearly 6 week weigh in on Friday of this week.  This is Jackson enjoying some snuggle time with his Grandpa Jim.  Oh, and Charlie seems to really enjoy “his” room and “his” new bed, so far Jackson doesn’t mind sharing with him since he isn’t using it yet.
