Last night we went to dinner with Jaimi and Ryan as well as some of their friends. We ended up at Sapa a Japanese restaurant just near downtown. The wait was long, but the atmosphere and conversation was perfect. There was a table full of laughter, Saki, Sushi, and other delights as we talked the night away. I also ran into some other friends who were able to join us in the lounge for awhile. As luck would have it, they also knew Ryan, Danny and Ronni who were with us – small world!
After dinner we headed to Liquid Joes to celebrate my friend Michele’s birthday (over two weeks ago). There was an 80’s cover band playing called the Spazmatics and they are always a good time. After countless 80’s covers, hours of chair dancing and the abundance of amazing people watching, we started receiving text messages from our oldest daughter who is 13. I thought I had told her that we were headed to a club after dinner, but I guess not. Call after call was missed, text after text was sent with worried concern. Finally I saw the messages and let her know that we would be home soon. The funny thing is that I felt like such a kid and that I was being scolded by my mom. She sent us messages letting us know it was 12:30 am and she couldn’t believe we weren’t home yet. Where were we? What were we doing? Who were we with? So I guess it was time to head home then???
Sitting here typing, I am realizing just how tired I am, just how old I am and just how grateful I am to be married to an amazing man. Looking around that bar at the single people just out having a good time, hoping they may find the man/woman to dance with, maybe take home, or maybe start a relationship with, made me reinforced just how lucky I am.
