It's not an avocado!
It’s not an avocado!

Today I met with Dr. Horvath for the first time since my insurance carrier change.  Dr. Horvath delivered my first child and we had such a great experience that I was excited to be able to have her deliver Baby A.  The visit was mainly routine starting with a weigh in, peeing in a cup and then the usual blood pressure check.  The fun part was that the Dr. wanted to do a quick ultrasound to make sure the baby was growing well.  I wasn’t expecting to see baby A so this was super exciting.  At 16 week the baby is the size of a Haas Avocado, so now that I can feel the movements, I kept picturing an avocado with tiny hands and feet moving around inside me.  When I saw the actual baby, it was almost surprising that it wasn’t an avocado, how could it be a tiny real looking baby already???  I guess I forgot how quickly they grown and change.  We head back in 2 weeks for the big ultrasound on 2/1 with the IP’s and I can hardly wait.  It will be so fun to see Baby A again and make sure everything is okay.  The bummer thing is that since I had a vanishing twin we haven’t been able to do any genetic testing.  I was hoping we could at least do the Alpha Fetal Protein test but that isn’t recommended as well. The one thing that we are watching for is Toxemia.  I had it with my first child and since this is like a “first” baby since it is different genetics they want to watch me closely for Toxemia. I am not too stressed about it at this point, my blood pressure looks good, and I don’t have any protein in my urine yet.  I also started to swell around 4 months with Lauren which I don’t have yet either.  I really can’t worry about something until it happens so for now, I am just staying positive and enjoying every day.  It is going so quickly and I want to savor the moments.
