Today I am 37 weeks, which technically is full term. When I started this journey, I really couldn’t imagine how I would feel at 37 weeks knowing that the journey was nearly complete. So today as I got dressed, took my weekly photo and headed to the doctor, I reflected on the past 37 weeks and months prior. Currently, I have swollen legs and ankles, I could pass for a real life Miss Piggy at times. I feel amazing, but can see that I am slowing down and need help for simple things like buckling my shoes and pulling my pants off at the end of the day. This little guy continues to sit on my right side (head down) and push on my rib cage which isn’t comfortable but manageable. All in all, as people ask me how I am feeling, it is hard not to just reply with “great” because if I really look at how I am feeling, it is great. This really has been a VERY easy pregnancy, something I was lucky to have, given that I could have ended up with complications along the way.
Alright, so many of you may be wondering how my doctor appointment went since I have had some blood pressure ups and downs over the last few weeks. Today my blood pressure was 102/76 which is a perfect place for it to be. When I discussed the readings my home BP monitor was giving me, Dr. Horvath didn’t seem overly concerned, unless I was exhibiting symptoms. So for now, I am watching more for the headaches and not feeling well, which hasn’t been the case so far. I am measuring at 37 weeks, so right on track, but I wish I would have asked how big she thinks the baby is at this point. I also had my cervix checked and I am a fingertip dilated and 30% effaced which means I still have more time with this little guy in my belly. Lastly, I had my urine test and it was also perfect for me, but of course I still had trouble aiming into the cup, something I suspect will not get better anytime soon. After peeing on my hand, the toilet seat and then into the cup, I successfully had enough urine for the test. Oh the joys of pregnancy. All in all, I am very happy with my appointment today and look forward to next week when Sara and Derek can join me at the appointment.
