We headed to Snowbird for a free nights stay at the Cliff Lodge. Last weekend we used up the activity passes on the Alpine Slide, Mountain Coaster, Zip Line and the bungee trampoline.
Very cold Tram ride
Time to soak up the last of the great fall weather we have had, take in the fall colors and enjoy some much needed family time. It is amazing how you have such high hopes for how the night will go, and then you start the car ride up the canyon and the kids are already at each other. Having grown up with no siblings, I have no idea if their level of fighting is normal or not, but people seem to tell me they will grow out of it and it is completely normal.
Beautiful drive up the canyon, we arrived at the Bird just before dinner so we thought we would grab a bite of Mexican food. After full bellies and an enormous check (they really stick it to you at resorts) we headed upstairs to unwind and hit the hot tub. Before we hit the hot tub we all needed to relax and let our food settle, so I decided to do a quick personality quiz. We did a recent training at work to determine our element (Earth, Air, Water, Fire) and I thought I would see which element each family member was. Lauren was Fire/Earth which makes complete sense, she is always coming up with ideas and dreaming about new possibilities, but has enough Earth in her to make her dreams a reality – the making of a CEO??? Billy is a Fire/Air which means he is a big dreamer and thinking about possibilities but is analyzing each option before moving forward. Will was a bit difficult to determine if his element was accurate given that he is 9 and doesn’t understand all the words on the quiz. His element is Fire/Earth, but I think he is really more of a Water/Fire which means he is caring and sensitive but is a big dreamer. So you may be asking what my element is??? I happen to be the odd man out, I am an Air with all elements nearly equal but Water is just slightly higher. I am extremely analytical, logical and evidence based in my approach to life and work, so this fits me pretty well.
The family didn’t seem as excited to do the quiz as I had hoped. Will was ready to hit the hot tub while the rest of us wanted to stay in for a movie. Of course, I am not supposed to hot tub so I would have to hang back or sit in the cold and watch…hanging back is a much better idea. In the end, the kids decided to get a deck of cards from the front desk and play a new game Will had learned and wanted to teach his big sis while Billy and I watched Ghostbusters II. Have you watched that movie lately, it is very 80’s and cheese cinematography.
Home now from Snowbird and we’re headed to see Goosebumps with the kids before Billy’s Dude night out to see the latest Warren Miller film. When they said take it easy for the next few weeks this is exactly what the doctor ordered!
